Annual. Stems more or less pilose, 5-40 cm. Basal leaves ovate-oblong, interruptedly pinnatisect, rachis winged; segments pinnatifid with crenate-dentate lobes. Bracts several. Sepals 5-7 mm, in fruit 9-14 mm, obtuse, glandular, conspicuously nerved; awn 1,5-3 mm. Petals mauve, slightly exceeding the sepals. Beak of fruit 4,5-10 cm. Mericarps 8-10 mm, white-hispid, with deep, glandular foveoles and no furrows. Fl. 4-5. Fields, pastures, steppe, s.l-1500 m.
