Stems 35-100 cm, erect from a decumbent rooting base, pubescent. Leaves 20-55 mm, oblong to elliptic or lanceolate, strigose-pubescent. Inflorescence pyramidal or cylindric, many-flowered. Sepals narrowly oblong, subacute, black glandular-denticulate or -ciliate. Petals c. 10 mm. Capsule 5-7 mm, ovoid. Fl. 8. Woods and river banks, c. 2000m.
