Stems 35-75 cm, erect, glabrous, eglandular or rarely black dotted . Leaves on main stems 30-60 mm, ovate or oblong-elliptic to linearoblong, acute or apiculate to obtuse, rarely revolute, glabrous or rarely slightly scabrid above or on margins, rarely glaucous. Inflorescence broadly to narrowly pyramidal, many-flowered. Sepals lanceolate to oblong or spathulate, acute, very shortly glandular-denticulate or shortly fimbriate. Petals 8-16 mm, sometimes red-tinged. Capsule 8-10 mm, broadly ovoid, rostrate. Fl. 6-8. Open forest, field margins and rocky calcareous slopes, 1450-2400 m.
