Corm tunic papery, with anastomosing fibres. Stem 30-40 cm. Leaves 3-4; lamina 2.5-4 mm broad, glaucous, veins irregularly spaced. Spike 3-4flowered, lax, not markedly secund. Perianth mauve-purple; tube slightly curved, posterior 8.5-12 mm, anterior 11-13 mm; upper segments elliptic or elliptic-oblong, scarcely clawed, subacute, median 25-28 x 9-12 mm, lateral 22-24 x 4.5-7 mm; lower segments spathulate, long-clawed , obtuse or apiculate, median 12-21 x 4 mm, lateral 13-24 x 4.5mm, lateral segments not overlapping. Anthers 8-10 mm, filaments 10-14 mm. Style to 3 cm, with unequal stigmas 1.8 and 2.5 mm. Capsule ellipsoid; seeds unwinged. 2n =60. Fl. 3-5. Macchie, Pinus brutia forest, on limestone, s.l.-1400 m.
