Plant 6-7 cm. Bulb producing many small bulblets. Leaves 2, 4 angled, 1-7 cm at anthesis, expanding later to c. 20 cm. Bract and bracteole unequal, bract green, bracteole narrower and semi-transparent. Perianth tube 3-4 cm. Flowers yellow with sparse green spots in centre of falls; falls oblanceolate, 2.5-4 cm, claw 1.5-2.5 x 0.5-0.7 cm, lamina ovate, obtuse, 0.7-1.8 x 0.6-1.3 cm, with a deeper yellow or orange median ridge; standards subulate, c. 0.3-0.5 cm; style branches 2.2-3.3 cm with ovate, usually obtuse, irregularly dentate lobes. Capsule erect, carried at ground level, ellipsoid, c. 2.5 x1 cm. Fl. 3-4. Stony slopes in exposed places or in sparse coniferous woods, usually near snowline, 1000-2000 m.
