Plant 50-60 cm. Rhizome stout, compact. Leaves 6-7, falcate, 0.5-0.8 cm broad. Bract and bracteole 6-12 cm. Perianth tube 3-3.5 cm. Falls obovate, 6.5-8 x 4.5-6 cm, coarsely spotted and strongly veined deep purple or violet on a whitish ground, with a darker, small round median blotch, bearded in lower half with a sparse broad band of purplish black or yellow hairs; standards ± orbicular, with a short claw, 7-10.5 x 6-8.2 cm, spotted and veined purple on a white or bluish ground, less prominently marked than falls; style branches 4-7 x 1.5-2.4 cm, with erect or reflexed lobes 1-1.8 x 1-2 cm. Capsule not seen. Fl. 4-5. Limestone hills in stony places, 750-1700 m.
