Plant 15-30 cm. Leaves 1.5-2 cm broad, straight or very slightly curved, long-tapering from middle to an acute apex, greyish-green. Stem 1-2-branched with 2-5 flowers. Bract and bracteole inflated-navicular, 3-5 cm, pale green at anthesis, becoming scarious. Flowers purple, violet or dirty yellow to deep yellow, usually prominently veined on lower part of segments; beard yellow or white tipped with yellow; perianth tube 1-1.8 cm; falls obovate, rather rounded at apex, 5.5-6.5 x 3-3.2 cm;standards broadly elliptic-obovate with ashort claw, 5-6.5 x 3-3.5 cm; style branches 2.8-3.2 x 1-1.3 cm with obtuse lobes c. 0.4 x 0.4 cm.
