Leaves 3-6, 6-30 cm x 1-1.5 mm, often recurved, 2 basal, one cauline low down on scape, others apical. Scape elongating after flowering, to 30 cm, 1-4-flowered. Pedicels to 10 cm in fruit, recurved. Bract 12-20 mm, some-times longer than perianth, herbaceous, strongly veined. Bracteole with narrow hyaline margins, mostly herbaceous. Perianth pale to deep lilac blue, sometimes with darker veins or somewhat streaked· with yellow. upwards from throat, 10-18 mm; tube 2.54.5 mm; segments oblanceolate, acute. Filaments glabrous or hairy; top of anthers reaching c. 2/3 up perianth segments. Stigmas held below top of anthers. Capsule cylindrical to somewhat clavate. Fl. 3-4. Sandy shores, alluvial flats, sl.-150 m.
