Leaves 3-6, 8-16 cm x 1-1.25 mm, often recurved and adpressed. Scape not produced above ground at flowering time, 1-4-flowered. Pedicels 2-5 cm. Bract 16-22 mm, herbaceous with narrow membranous margins which are speckled with reddish-brown, the whole sometimes tinged reddish or violet. Bracteole almost entirely membranous, brownish or whitish, speckled with reddish-brown. Perianth violet with a yellow throat, 2.1-3.7 cm; tube 8.5-17 mm, narrow; segments lanceolate to ovate, acute or obtuse. Filaments glabrous; top of anthers reaching c. halfway up perianth segments. Style purple; stigmas paler, held just or much above top of anthers. Ripe capsule not seen. Fl. 1-3. Alt. 30-500 m.
