Plant variable, with sessile or subsessile glands, usually eglandular-hirsute or pubescent. Stems ascending, suberect, flexuous or procumbent. Median leaves 8-15 x 5-13 mm, ovate to ovate-orbicular, entire. Verticillasters 2-4, distant. Bracteoles lanceolate-acuminate to subulate, c. as long as calyx tube. Calyx slightly curved, 4.5-7.5 mm, usually hirsute, distinctly bilabiate to c. 1/4, teeth ciliate; upper lip 3-toothed to halfway, upper teeth 0.5-1.5 mm, usually triangular-acuminate and curved upwards, lower teeth triangular-subulate, 1.2-2.5 mm. Corolla mauve, violet or pink, rarely white, 8-12 mm. Fl. 7-9. Dry places in mountains, stony limestone slopes and screes, 1300-2200 m.
Lebanon. E. Medit. element. Very variable in habit, indumentum and flower size, being apparently differentiated into several local races.
