Shrub, 30-60 cm, branches minutely tuberculate, otherwise glabrous. Leaves and bracts ovate or ovate-oblong, 10-30 x 8-20 mm, truncate to cordate, crenate to dentate, subacute or obtuse, punctate, resinous. Verticillasters 2-3-flowered. Calyx lobes pale green, papery, 10-20 mm, obtuse, mucronulate. Corolla violet, resupinate; 15-21 mm; tube 12-18 mm; upper lip 4-5 mm. Stamens and style exserted from lower lip; stylar lobes lilac-purple. Nutlets minutely verrucose. Fl. 5-6. Bare shaly slopes, limestone scree, in steppe, 1900-2100 m.
