Stems 7-35 cm, densely to sparingly pubescent. Lower leaves petiolate mm), upper sessile; lamina broadly to narrowly ovate, ovate-lanceolate or oblong, median 16-50 x 5-30 mm, subentire to crenate or rarely coarsely dentate, adpressed-pilose: upper similar but smaller. Bracts narrowly oblong-ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 6-32 x 2-17 mm, crenate to dentate. Calyx 6-10 mm in flower, accrescent to 8-14 mm, densely grey-villous. Corolla pale to deep pink or purplish-mauve, with darker markings on lower lip, 9-20 mm.Fl. 4-6. Dry stony hillsides, steppe, fields, vineyards, roadsides, on light soils, 700-1650 m.
Endemic. Ir.-Tur. element. The species is very variable in density of indumentum.
