Leaves 20-90 x 10-40 mm, ovate-lanceolate to elliptic, coarsely dentate or crenate, less commonly pinnatisect at base or ± throughout their length, lobes 1-7 mm deep. Bracteoles 2-5 mm. Calyx 3-4.5 mm, teeth 1.5-25 mm, spinescent at apex. Corolla white with small dark purple spots, c. 4 mm; staminodes reduced or absent. Fl. 6-10.
