Divaricately and widely branched perennial. Stems to 50 cm or more, densely adpressed stellate-pubescent. Leaves ± lanceolate, shortly petiolate, serrate, greyish adpressed stellate-pubescent on both surfaces. Verticillasters crowded, several-flowered, terminating the branches; outer bracteole shorter than calyx tube, inner ones very short. Calyx tube 3.5-4.5 mm, finely adpressed stellate-pubescent; teeth slightly unequal, 1.5-2.5 mm, erect, stellate-pubescent to apex. Corolla white, densely stellate-pilose outside, less densely so inside upper lip. Nutlets dark brown, 1.5-2 mm. Fl. 6-8. Roadsides, waste places, s.1.-400 m.
C. & S.E. Europe, eastwards to Caucasia.
