Slender perennial without turions. Stems numerous, ascending or flexuous, from a woody stock, 5-15 cm, recurved-puberulent, or hispidulous or scabridulous. Median leaves narrowly ovate to oblong-elliptic, 4-7 x 1.5-2.5 mm, shortly revolute, ± hairy. Inflorescence slender, 3-10 cm, floral leaves 1-2 x verticillasters. Verticillasters small, approximate or distant, 2-6-flowered, cymules distinctly pedunculate, flowers pedicellate; bracteoles short, often c. 1/2 as long as pedicels. Calyx 2-3 mm, tubular, minutely antrorse scabrid- pubescent to patently puberulent, sub-bilabiate to 1/5-1/4; teeth lanceolate, rigid, 0.3-0.5 mm, suberect, not ciliate, lower slightly longer than upper 3; throat shortly bearded. Corolla 3-4 mm, purplish. Nutlets oblong, 0.8-1 mm, subacuminate.
