Subshrub to 50 cm, somewhat hirtellous at base, otherwise usually glabrous. Branches to 7 pairs per stem, to 3 cm. Leaves subsessile, elliptic-ovate, lower often roundish, 4-20 x 2-12 mm, acute, glaucous. Spicules 8-20 x 5-12 mm. Bracts elliptic, 6-10 x 4-7 mm, ± acuminate. Calyx c. 5 mm, 2-lipped to c. 2/5; upper lip with ± triangular teeth to c. 2/5, lower lip c. 2/5 x upper lip, with broadly triangular or triangular teeth. Corolla pink, 8-11 mm. Fl. 7-8. Calcareous and serpentine rocks and slopes, sometimes in Pinus nigra forest, 1300-2000 m.
