Subshrub, to 70 cm, glabrous. Branches to 12 pairs per stem, to 17 crn, Leaves petiolate to subsessile , ovate or elliptic, 3-30 x 1.5-1.7 mm, obtuse or acute, ± coriaceous, glaucous. Spicules often ± lax, 5-20 x 36 mm, Bracts ± lanceolate, 3-6 x 0.5-2 mm, acute, ± purple. Calyx 3-6 mm. Corolla purple, 8-16 mm. Fl. 4-10. Grasslands, macchie, open deciduous or mixed scrub and woods, s.l.-2000 m.
Cyprus. E. Medit. element. Differs from the somewhat related O. Ehrenbergii Boiss. by its glabrous stems and leaves and by the purple bracts and corollas.
