Herb 10-30 cm, eglandular . Leaves with very short dense adpressed whitish stellate-tomentose indumentum on both sides, basal leaves ovate to oblong, obtuse, shortly cuneate, truncate or shallowly cordate at base, 2-5 x 1-3 cm, finely crenate-serrate or entire, petioles to 7 cm, cauline leaves similar, shortly petiolate. Floral leaves oblong to 1anceolate, about as long as verticillasters. Verticillasters 3-6, mostly congested or lower distant, 3-6- flowered. Bracteoles few, linear-subulate, 3-6 mm, stellate-tomentose, Calyx 10-15 mm, densely stellate-tomentose, with ±numerous longer undivided hairs, teeth lanceolate-acuminate, 3-6 mm. Corolla yellow , 20-25 mm. Nutlets glabrous, sometimes papillose or hairy at apex. Fl. 6-8. Steppe, Quercus scrub, rocky slopes, limestone rocks, 540-2400 m.
