Herb to 100 cm, eglandular. Leaves densely white-pannose on both sides, basal leaves large, oblong to ovate, obtuse, cordate at base, crenulate to crenate, 6-14 x 3-6 cm, petioles to 12 cm; cauline leaves smaller, oblong, truncate or shortly cuneate at base, shortly petiolate. Floral leaves lanceolate, about as long as verticillasters or ± longer. Inflorescence large, with 5-7 ± congested 4-8-flowered verticillasters. Bracteoles few, subulate, 5-10 mm, tomentose. Calyx 10-15 mm, densely white stellate-pannose, teeth ovate-triangular, mucronate, 2-4 mm. Corolla 20-25 mm, yellow. Nutlets glabrous or ±papillose or pilose at apex. Fl. 6-8. Limestone scree and rocks, roadsides, corn and fallow fields, steppe, s.l.-1550 m.
