Shrub 30-60 cm, rarely almost herbaceous. Stems divaricately branched, glabrous or glabrescent, rarely hirsute. Leaves ovate or ovatelanceolate, 15-45 x 7-30 cm, crenate or crenate-serrate, apex acute, base cordate or truncate ; glabrous, puberulent or rarely hirsute, sometimes glossy; petioles 6-18 mm. Bracteoles 5-9 mm, linearelliptic. Calyx 12-16 mm, glabrous, glandular-puberulent or sparsely hirsute, lobes ovate to lanceolate-ovate, shortly aristate. Corolla white , 17-23 mm, glabrous. Drupe 3-4 x c. 3 mm. Fl. 3-5. Under Pinus, macchie, dry banks, cliffs, fixed dunes, roadsides, on volcanic and calcareous substrata, s.l.-180 m.
