Branches ascending or erect, to 50 cm. Leaves 10-25 x 1-2 mm, dark green, rugulose and pilose above, white-tomentose beneath. Peduncles and pedicels white stellate-tomentose. Calyx 3-4.5 mm, divided to 1/2, white-tomentose, accrescent in fruit and becoming veined and glabrescent. Corolla pale blue, 8-12 mm. Nutlets brown. Fl. 2-5. Calcareous & schistose hills among Pinus brutia and Erica manipuliflora, roadsides, vineyards, 30-250 m.
Mediterranean area , Egypt, Caucasia. Medit. element. Often cultivated for its aromatic oil.
