Tuft-forming suffruticose herb. Stems ascending-erect, 30-45 cm, sparsely lanate below, glabrous and ± glaucous above. Leaves simple, ovate-oblong to oblong, 4-8 x 2-3 cm, rarely with a pair of basal lateral lobes, cordate or rounded, pilose pubescent above and below, rugulose, crenulate; petiole 1.5-3.5 cm, Verticillasters 4-9-flowered, distant. Bracts of upper verticillasters broadly ovate, 15-25 x 17-28 mm, pale green, lowermost leaf-like. Pedicels 4-10 mm, erecto-patent. Calyx pale green, broadly campanulate, c. 20 mm, glabrous, broadening and membranous in fruit, upper lip subentire. Corolla white, 30-50 mm; tube straight below, widening and curved upwards above, annulate; upper lip ± straight, broad. Stamens A. Nutlets rounded trigonous, c. 4.5 x 3.5 mm. Fl. 6-7. Shale hills and steep igneous N. slopes, 1850-2500 m.
