Rigid, spinescent, much branched, domed shrublet, 6-10 cm, branchlets densely white-pubescent , becoming spinose after flowering. Leaves cuneate-oblanceolate, 3-9 x 1-3 mm, stiff, muticous, scabrid-pubescent . Verticillasters always 2-flowered, crowded into a stiff 1-2 cm spike. Bracts only 2-4 mm, thick. Calyx subsessile , nearly actinomorphic, 2.5-3 mm, lower teeth 1 mm, slightly longer than upper ones. Corolla white, 5-6 mm; stamens subexserted from corolla. Nutlets 1 mm, obovate-oblong, obtuse. Fl. 7-8. Exposed limestone rocks and screes, 800-1680 m.
