Differs from S. salviifolia in having usually purplish stems with a more creeping habit, 5-8 cm; leaves more densely glandular; racemes few-flowered, bracts weakly crenate; corolla pale pink to coral-pink , 12-15 mm. Fl. 6-8. Mixed deciduous/Cedrus forest, rocky slopes and screes, scrub, Pinus forest, 970-2100 m.
