Stem 15-50 cm, erect or ascending, simple or branched, leafy, often purplish. Leaves slightly discolorous, median to 5.5 x 2.5 cm, elliptic to lanceolate, ± cordate, weakly crenate-serrate, finely pubescent, very shortly petiolate. Flowers secund, pedicels c. 1 mm. Calyx 4-5 mm, sparsely pubescent, eglandular. Corolla lavender to lilac-blue, with paler lower lip speckled blue in middle third, 14-20 mm, pubescent. Fl. 6-8. Marshy ground, edges of lakes and rivers, nr s.l.-2000 m.
