Perennial, 25-60 cm, branched, densely white-pannose. Middle and lower cauline leaves with obtuse, orbicular or suborbicular lamina 1-2.5 cm, minutely crenate, abruptly constricted into petiole to 1 cm. Verticillasters 2-5, forming a corymbose inflorescence. Middle bracts 0.5-0.8 x 0.5-1 cm, mucronate,  appearing connate because of interlocking indumentum. Calyx 6-8 mm, teeth obtuse, 2-3 mm. Corolla yellow, 8-10 mm, hairy and with brown markings inside. Fl. 6-8. Dry hillsides, chalky rubble, 900-1300 m.
