Perennial, 25-75 cm, simple or little-branched, ± densely spreading hirsute , with ± numerous short glands. Middle cauline leaves greenish, densely reticulate-nerved, oblong to linear-lanceolate, 4-7 x 0.5-2 cm, acutish to acute, entire or sparsely denticulate. Verticillasters 3-15, 6-flowered, 1-8 cm distant. Middle bracts orbicular-cordate to reniform 1-2 cm, suddenly acuminate . Calyx 8.5-10 mm, teeth linear-lanceolate, acuminate, 3-4 mm, with spreading hirsute eglandular hairs to 2 mm, tube subglabrous with short glands. Corolla bright yellow, 9-13 mm, hairy and with brown striae inside. 2n = 32. Fl. 7-8. Dry rocky slopes, Quercus scrub, s.l
Endemic. E. Medit. element. Without near allies. The leaves of this species are collected by the local people to make a particularly good tea.
