Perennial. Stems erect, 30-75 cm or more, sparsely to densely pubescent, eglandular. Leaves oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 3-8 x 0.5-2 cm, acute, truncate or shallowly cordate at base, crenate, adpressed-pubescent, lower shortly petiolate, upper sessile. Verticillasters 4-6-flowered, upper crowded, lower usually distant, rarely whole inflorescence congested. Calyx 6-8.5 mm, eglandular or rarely with at least some glandular hairs; teeth equal, 1.5-4 mm, equalling or slightly shorter than tube. Corolla purple, 11-14 mm, puberulent ; upper lip 2.5-4 mm, lower 4-8 mm. Fl. 6-10. Damp shady places, at edge of forests, s.l.-1100 m.
