Dwarf suffrutescent shrub. Stems 5-10 cm, prostrate or procumbent, with adpressed crispate hairs. Leaves 10-15 mm, lanceolate or elliptic to obovate, adpressed-pubescent and greenish above, canescent and tomentose beneath, usually strongly or only margin revolute, usually entire. Flowers in terminal heads, shortly pedicellate, bracts similar to cauline leaves, always entire. Calyx tubular-campanulate, 7-8 mm, thin-textured, adpressed-pubescent with 5 acuminate subequal teeth. Corolla pale yellow, 10-12 mm, proximal lobes spathulate, ciliate. Fl. 7-8. Calcareous and sandstone rocky slopes, steppe, 800-2500 m.
N.W. Africa, S. & C. Europe, extending to Holland and Crimea.
