Bulb with brown or black tunic and several smaller bulblets, without recurved thickened roots. Basal leaf 1, linear, 12-25 x 0.3-0.5 cm, canaliculate, keeled beneath, glaucous. Inflorescence umbellate, 5-15 cm. Cauline leaves 3, whorled, larger ones to 6 mm broad, covered with erect downy hairs, glaucous. Flowers 2-8. Pedicels hairy, erect in fruit. Perianth segments yellowish, reddening as they fade, oblong-!inear, 12-14 mm, obtuse. Capsule unknown. Fl. 3-4. Scrub and fields, to c. 2000 m.
