Bulbs with a fibrous tunic and a 1-5 cm tubular reticulate sheath, without thickened roots, usually aggregated into dense tufts, often with short stolons. Basal leaf 1, narrowly linear, to 1 mm broad, exceeding inflorescence. Inflorescence umbellate, 4-12 cm. Cauline leaves 3-5,whorled, linear, lowest exceeding flowers. Flowers 2-5. Pedice1s 1.5-6 cm, slender, with crisped hairs, equalling or longer than scape. Perianth segments yellow inside, green outside, linear-lanceolate, 15-20 x 2-3 mm, acuminate. Capsule spherical, shorter than perianth segments. Fl. 3-4. Dry steppe, fallow fields, roadsides, 450-1000 m.
