Bulbs large, 5-10 cm diam. Stem 60-150 cm, 2-10-flowered. Leaves spirally arranged, lanceo1ate to linear-lanceolate, 70-130 x 13-21 mm, glabrous on both sides, margin long-ciliate . Flowers depressed-globose, ivory, cream or pale sulphur, with a purplish-brown centre and finely spotted in upper part. Perianth segments narrowly elliptic-oblong, obtuse, tapered below, 42-55 x 8-12mm, apex papillose and bearded, strongly recoiled in upper 2/3-3/4, hiding the greenish-based 'tube'. Filaments free, 20-28 mm. Anthers 6-8 mm; pollen orange. Style 15-20 mm. Scent intermediate between that of L. carniolicum subsp. ponticum and L. monadelphum var. szovitsianum. Fl. 6-7. Margins of forests and in clearings, scrub , rich meadows above tree line, on acid soils, 1500-2400 m.
