Syn: L.carniolicum
Bulbs 3-5 cm diam. Stem 30-75 cm, 1-5-flowered. Leaves spirally arranged, acutely elliptic to narrowly 1anceolate, 33-82 x 8-20 mm, shortly setulose on margin and veins beneath. Flowers depressed-globose, butter-yellow or deep orange, usually with reddish-brown to chocolate centre and spotting. Perianth segments linear-elliptic, subacute, 34-45 x 5-9 mm, apex papillose, abruptly recoiled in upper 2/3-3/4, hiding the purplish-based tube, lower 1/3 of inner perianth segments without adaxial lingulate outgrowths. Filaments free, papillose, 20-26 mm. Anthers 5-7 mm; pollen orange to reddish-orange. Style 11-16 mm. Scent strong and pungent, like that of L. pyrenaicum Gouan.
