Densely caespitose perennial. Leaves linear-setaceous or linear, c. 6 x 0,5-1,5 mm, keeled, not ciliate or glandular-stipulate, crowded into numerous sterile and fertile very short shoots, the fibres of the old leaves persistent. Flowers solitary, sessile. Sepals ovate, acute, 5-6 mm with broad membranous ± ciliate margins. Petals yellow, c. 1 cm. Capsule orbicular-ellipsoid, 5-7 mm, obtuse and scarcely beaked. Fl. 6. Exposed schist and limestone screes, 1900-2300 m.
Endemic. A very distinct and beautiful plant, probably nearest to L. cariense.
