Tall perennial. Stems hispid-setose with an indumentum of long, stellate, fascicled or simple hairs, without smaller, adpressed stellate hairs, rarely glabrescent. Leaves usually lobed, the upper leaves often deeply so, crenate, with an indumentum of stellate hairs. Epicalyx segments ½  as long as the calyx or longer. Calyx clearly to obscurely striate. Petals white or pink 35-50 mm. Mericarps pilose, not conspicuously rugose. Fl. 7. Scrub, cliffs, up to 700 m.
