Perennial, stems woody below, up to 3 m tall. Leaves orbicular-cordate, the lower slightly, the upper more deeply 5-7-lobed, crenate, sparsely stellate-pilose above and beneath. Flowers borne in fascicles of 4 or more in the leaf axils. Epicalyx segments oblong-orbicular, accrescent and spreading in fruit. Sepals white-pilose. Petals violet, 17-21 mm. Mericarps transversely rugose. FI. 4-5. Coasts.
