Tree to 40 m. Bark finely fissured on old trunks; branch lets and petioles glabrous to densely pubescent; winter buds black. Leaflets 4-6-paired, sessile, oblong-ovate to oblong-lanceolate, 5-9 x 2-3 cm, long-acuminate, tapering to a rounded base, neatly crenate-serrate or ad pressed-serrate , dark green above, paler beneath, glabrous except for villosity along midrib beneath; rachis glabrous to pubescent. Panicle axillary, leafless, appearing before leaves. Calyx and corolla absent. Anthers dark purple. Fruit lanceolate to narrowly oblong, 2,5-4 x 0,7-0,9 cm, emarginate to acute.
