Evergreen or semi-deciduous shrub, 0,5-2 m. Branches slender, upright or spreading, angled, dark green, glabrous. Leaves alternate; leaflets 3, rarely 1, obovate, oblong or oblong-spathulate, 0,7-2 cm, obtuse, cuneate, ciliolate. Cymes 2-5-flowered on short lateral branches. Calyx campanulate with 5 subulate teeth. Corolla yellow, limb 12-15 mm diam., 5-lobed, lobes oblong, slightly shorter than tube. Berry globose, 7-9 mm, shiny black or deep blue-purple. Fl. 5. Mostly in dry rocky places in macchie, Pinus brutia forest or margins of mixed deciduous woodland, oak scrub, field margins, s.l.-1500 m.
