Erect branched perennial, perennating by means of basal leafy rosettes; stems 20-100 cm, terete, long-villous. Leaves narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate, 2-6 x 1-2 cm, pubescent, sparsely so above, denticulate to serrate, sessile with a cuneate base. Inflorescence with glandular and eglandular hairs. Flowers pink; petals 5-8 mm; stigma 4-lobed. Capsule 5-7 cm; seeds obovoid, c. 1 cm, papillose. Fl. 5-9. Stream and lake sides, damp places, 100-1750 m.
