Plant to 30-40 cm, stem straight, robust. Leaves 2-4, ovate to oblong-ligulate, spreading, upper ones sheathing. Spike cylindrical-elongate, few- to manyflowered. Bracts concave. Flowers varying in colour, usually purplish-red, or brownish to greenish. Sepals and petals olive-green to reddish, obtuse; lateral sepals spreading or erect. Labellum ovate to obovate, sometimes minutely incised at apex, margin slightly undulate. Spur shortly saccate or broadly cylindrical, half as long as ovary, whitish. Fl. 2-4. Grassy and stony places, s.l.-1220 m.
