Plants stout, 30-60 cm. Leaves 3-4, oblong-lanceolate, to 8 cm, often folded, spreading, dull green, uppermost narrowly lanceolate, passing into bracts. Spike dense, to 20-flowered. Lower bracts exceeding flowers, upper ones slightly longer than ovary. Flowers large, opening wider, creamy-white. Sepals 20-25 x 7-9 mm. Petals shorter. Hypochile cup-shaped, lateral lobes triangular, clasping column; epichile broadly cordate, 8-10 xc. 14 mm, with 3 yellow-brown parallel crests, margins slightly undulate. Ovary glabrous. Fl. 5-7. Montane deciduous forest, Quercus scrub, 850-1740 m.
