Plant 15-45 cm, with 3-4 ovate to lanceolate leaves near base and a few amplexicaul sheaths above. Spike globose to ovoid, ± densely flowered, flowers rose. Sepals connivent, acuminate, veined dark red. Labellum whitish-rose with darker purple dots, papillose, 3-lobed; lateral lobes falcately directed forwards, truncate, dentate; middle lobe exceeding lateral lobes, cuneate, shallowly notched or bilobed with diverging denticulate lobules, sometimes with a minute tooth between. Spur cylindrical, shorter than ovary, descending; Fl; 4-5. Grassy places, macchie, scrub, s.l. -1600 m.
