Plants 10-30 cm. Leaves 3-5, erecto-patent, oblong-lanceolate. Flowers 2-9, variable in size. Sepals ovate-oblong,8-11mm, green or whitish-green. Petals very small, triangular to triangular-ovate, obtuse, 2 mm, c. 2.5 mm broad at base, rose-violet or greenish-rose, velvety, margins ±villous. Labellum entire, subquadrate or trapeziform, maroon, deep brown or purplish-brown, velvety, bigibbous near base, emarginate in front, with glabrous, yellowish-green, upturned appendix in sinus. Speculum reduced near base, usually scutelliform, only slightly branched. Column with minutely apiculate connective.
