Plant 7-21 cm tall. Leaves lanceolate to broadly lanceolate, lower leaves in a basal rosette, upper turning into sheathing stem leaves, with or without spots. Spike cylindrical. lax and mostly few-flowered. Bracts narrowly Ianceolate, shorter than ovary. Flowers medium-sized, pink, dark- to light-red, perianth segments also with green veins. Sepals 5.5-8.2 x 2.9-4.5 mm. ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, laterally spreading, dorsal sepal bending over two petals. Petals 3.7-5.5 x 1.7-3.3 mm, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate connivent to form a hood. Labellum 5,8-10x 7.2-13 mm deeply three-lobed. middle lobe whitish from spur orifice to lower part, with two rows of dark purple spots. lateral lobes spreading to reflexed. Spur long and thin, horizontal to pointing upwards. Fl. 4-5. Open places. Short grassland. open woodland, phrygana and macchie: in stony and rocky-areas. mostly on calcareous soils. s.I.-600 m.
