Plants 10-40 cm. Leaves lanceolate, basal broader, often curved outwards. Spike elongate or condensed, 3-20-flowered. Bracts lanceolate, ± exceeding the spreading flowers. Sepal hood 20-26 mm, greyish-purple outside. Epichile broadly to narrowly lanceolate, oblong-lanceolate or narrowly cordate, ± bent backwards, 15-30 mm, glabrous to densely hairy near base, dark purple, brownish or ochre-red. Hypochile broad, ± projecting from hood. Beak of column 3-6 mm.
