Annual, eglandular-scabrid with short retrorse hairs. Stems erect, to 45 cm, little branched or with spreading-erect branches. Leaves linear to ovate-elliptic, variable in size, to 25 x 5 mm, usually much less, ± sessile, entire. Inflorescences lax; bracts leaf-like, longer than calyces. Pedicels c. 1,5 mm. Calyx tubular, 7-8 mm; teeth 3-3,5 mm, 2 slightly longer. Corolla golden yellow or yellowish-white, c. 9-12 mm, pilose; tube c. 5 mm. Anthers included, lacking mucro, glabrous. Capsule obovate, 9 x 5 mm, flattened and truncate-retuse, apiculate at apex; seeds c. 2,5 x 1,2 mm. Fl. 6-9. Limestone and metamorphic slopes, scrub, meadows, field-sides, 850-3050 m.
