Annual, glandular-pubescent. Stems erect, 18-30 cm, often coloured, unbranched or with short suberect branches. Leaves ovate, 5-12 x 3-10 mm, deeply and ± regularly serrate, sessile, acute. Inflorescence a terminal bracteate spike-like raceme. Pedicels 0,5-1 mm. Calyx tubular, 7-16 mm; lobes 2-7 mm, linear-lanceolate. Corolla reddish-purple, pink or pale sulphur-yellow, 8-18 mm, glabrous or pubescent, ± persistent; tube 5-13 mm; lower lip ± equally 3-lobed. Anthers glabrous, mucronate or obtuse. Capsule 7-14 x 2-3,5 mm. Fl. 4-6. Rocky limestone and igneous slopes, macchie, grassland, forest, nr s.l.-1400 m.
