Annual herb. Stems 20-50 cm, hirsute below. Lower leaves lyrate-pinnatisect, the terminal lobe larger than the laterals, all irregularly serrate. Peduncles adpressed-setose. Buds oblong-ellipsoid, 1-1,5 cm. Petals red, with a broad black blotch at the base. Capsule obconical, slightly ribbed, 1-1.5 cm. Disc with a prominent umbo. FI 3-6. Fields, hillsides, dunes, s.l.-1200 m.
