Erect annual 5-60 cm tall, whole plant with patent-spreading, short unicellular and long multicellular glandular hairs up to 2 mm in length. Stem slender, simple or branched, lowest pair of branches ascending, other branches more strictly erect. Leaves entire, petiolate, opposite at the two lowermost nodes, alternate at upper, elliptic-ovate to broadly ovate, 8-38x5-26 mm, thin-textured, obtuse to subacute, cuneate to asymmetrical and tapering at base, pale translucent-green, sparsely glandularhairy; petiole 4-23 mm, densely glandular-hairy. Racemes lax, 3-53 cm. Bracts leaf-like but smaller. Pedicels erect, 4-7 mm in flower, remaining erect and elongating to 8-14 mm in fruit, densely glandular-hairy. Calyx 5-fid, 4-5 mm; lobes linear-oblong to oblanceolate, obtuse at apex, narrowed at base, densely glandular-hairy. Corolla 8-10 mm long , white, upper lip suffused pale violet, sparsely glandular-hairy without; spur cylindrical, 2-3 mm, subacute to obtuse, directed downwards. Ovary and style with unicellular glandular hairs only. Capsule globose, 2.5-3.0 mm, ca half as long as calyx lobes, glabrous, opening by two apical pores. Seeds obovate-oblong, 0.7-0.8 mm, variegated like a leopard’s coat being brass-yellow with dark brown patches, very shallowly ribbed, conspicuously papillate-tuberculate.Flowering and fruiting occurs in Aug-Sep.
