Cushion-forming shrublet with thick, much-branched woody stock, branches clothed with numerous petiole bases. Basal leaves in numerous rosettes, to 15 x 3.5 mm incl. petiole, lamina broadly elliptic to suborbicular, obtuse or mucronate. Scape very short, to 2 cm, ± leafless. Capitulum terminal, 10-12 mm diam.; involucral bracts lanceo1ate, villous. Calyx divided nearly to base, zygomorphic, lobes erecto-patent, upper teeth narrower than lower. Corolla divided to c. half-way, lower lip divided almost to half-way into 3 linear-oblong segments, upper lip divided ± to throat into 2 narrowly linear segments. Fl. 7. Limestone rocks, 1800-2800 m.
